Summer tech internships

If you’re studying tech (or just really into it), this is your chance to get hands-on experience in the real world while earning money.

AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand, RealNZ and Skyline have teamed up with Technology Queenstown to offer 4-week paid internships this summer for three local Year 12 or Year 13 students.

How to apply

Students should submit a short application including:

1 page cover letter explaining why you are interested in taking part in the internship.

and

Short video (max 2 mins) demonstrating your interest in technology and why you want the internship

The role

  • This summer internship provides a hands-on introduction to working in a real-world tech environment.

    By the end of the internship, the student will have:

    • Gained practical experience working in a tech business

    • Developed confidence using tech tools

    • Improved communication and teamwork skills

    • A clearer understanding of career pathways in tech

    During the internship you will:

    • Assist with technology tasks

    • Attend team meetings and contribute ideas

    • Shadow team members to learn about various roles

    • Complete a small project or presentation at the end of the internship

    • Follow workplace policies around safety, conduct, and confidentiality

  • Three internships are available at one of the following employers:

    • AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand

    • RealNZ

    • Skyline

  • Term

    4 weeks in total over December 2025 and January 2026. 

    Dates will be agreed individually with the employing company.

    Hours

    30 hours per week

    Monday to Friday, 9am - 4pm

    Location

    You must be able to work in person at the company’s office (Queenstown or Frankton) for the duration of the term.

    Pay

    $25 per hour

  • Open to Year 12 or 13 students attending high school the Queenstown Lakes or Central Otago Districts. 

    You must either studying technology or demonstrate a strong interest in technology, innovation, or digital skills.
