If you’re studying tech (or just really into it), this is your chance to get hands-on experience in the real world while getting paid.
AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand, Central Otago District Council, Queenstown Lakes District Council, RealNZ, Skyline Enterprises and Trojan Holdings have teamed up with Technology Queenstown to offer 4-week paid internships this summer for three local Year 12 or Year 13 students.

The internships

This summer internship provides a hands-on introduction to working in a real-world tech environment.
By the end of the internship, the student will have:
Gained practical experience working in a tech business
Developed confidence using tech tools
Improved communication and teamwork skills
A clearer understanding of career pathways in tech
During the internship you will:
Assist with technology tasks
Attend team meetings and contribute ideas
Shadow team members to learn about various roles
Complete a small project or presentation at the end of the internship
Follow workplace policies around safety, conduct, and confidentiality

Three internships are available at one of the following employers:
AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand
Central Otago District Council
Queenstown Lakes District Council
RealNZ
Skyline Enterprises
Trojan Holdings

Term
4 weeks in total over December 2025 and January 2026.
Dates will be agreed individually with the employing company.
Hours
30 hours per week
Monday to Friday, 9am - 4pm
Location
You must be able to work in person at the company’s office (Queenstown or Frankton) for the duration of the term.
Pay
$25 per hour

Open to Year 12 or 13 students attending high school the Queenstown Lakes or Central Otago Districts.
You must either studying technology or demonstrate a strong interest in technology, innovation, or digital skills.

All applications will be reviewed, and shortlisted students will be invited to interview with an employer.Late September — Interviews

Successful students will be notified and receive details about their internship placement and next steps.
